Bayern Munich has regained the top of the table in the Bundesliga, after destroying 5: 1 Bayer Leverkusen within seven relentless minutes in the first half.
Robert Lewandowski and Sergey Gnabry with two goals each and Thomas Muller with one goal sank Leverkusen inside the first half at the BayArena on Sunday, with Patrick Schick scoring a consolation goal for the locals.
Seeing the tabular situation before this meeting and the loss of Bayern in the last match, much more was expected from Leverkusen, but the reigning champion was simply irresistible for them.
Lewandowski opened the scoring for Bayern in the 4th minute at the BayArena, scoring a wonderful goal with a heel.
The Polish striker doubled Bayern’s lead when he put the ball into the net from close range after being served by Alphonso Davies in the 30th minute.
Thomas Muller increased the visitors’ lead to three goals in the 34th minute, before Sergey Gnabry scored the fourth goal just a minute later.
Gnabry scored the fifth goal for Bayern and the second personal in the 37th minute.
Bayern dominated the game even more in the second half, but failed to score anymore.
Schick scored the first and only goal for the home side in the 5th minute.
Bayern regains the lead now with 19 points after eight games, knocking down rival Borussia Dortmund in second place with 18 points.
Leverkusen remains in third place with 16 points.
