Fenerbahçe is without a coach. The Turkish club fired Vitor Pereiran on Monday evening, after a series of matches with unsatisfactory results, which have cost him many points lost and which remove the team from the champion title.
Fenerbahçe is in fifth place, 14 points behind leading Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League.
The president of the club, Ali Koc, has changed eight coaches since he took office in the 2018-2019 season. Now he is looking for the ninth coach. Ali Koçi aims for a high profile name, to remove the pressure that comes from the fans. Joachim Löw, the former coach of Germany, seems to be the favorite to take on this task. He has never hidden his desire to work in Turkey, as he has early connections with the city of Istanbul and considers Fenebahçe a historic club.
He has told his friends that he loves Mesut Ozil, already part of Fenerbahce, despite the fact that the Turkish-German left with controversy from the representative who at that time was led by Low.
President Ali Koc is fully convinced to discuss all the details with the German. Joachim Löw was the coach of Fenerbahçe in the 1998-1999 season and then coached another Turkish club, Adanaspor, in 2000-2001.
