Real Madrid beats Sevilla in the last breath and strengthens the La Liga position

Real Madrid beat Sevilla 2-1 in a fun match thanks to a late goal by Vinicius Junior and a decisive reception by Thibaut Courtois on Sunday, strengthening the La Liga leader

Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior scored once at the Santiago Bernabeu to win in the derby against Sevilla, as Rafa Mir had given the visitors the lead early.

It was a direct match for the La Liga leader and Madrid overcame Sevilla to get the full three points.

Real Madrid now collect 33 points from 14 games in first place, followed by reigning champions Atletico Madrid by four points less.

Sevilla, for whom this was only the second loss this season in the league, remains fourth with 28 points.

Mir passed Julian Lopetegui’s team early in the match, when he scored a great header after a corner kick in the 12th minute.

Lucas Ocampos hit the post with a powerful shot from distance in the 30th minute.

Benzema equalized the score to 1: 1 when he scored on the empty net from a ball returned from the post after a rocket kick by Eder Militao in the 30th minute.

Real were able to take the lead for the first time at the end of the first half, but Marco Asensio’s shot from distance ended up near the post.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side stepped up their efforts to find the winning goal in the second half and were patient enough after Vinicius beat the visiting goalkeeper with a fantastic long-range shot in the 87th minute.

The hero of Madrid could be goalkeeper Courtois as much as the goal scorer of the victory Vinicius, as the Belgian goalkeeper received a powerful shot in the 94th minute to deny the goal to Thomas Delaney, who hit his head after a cross from the corner.
