Euro 2020 loses another protagonist. The Netherlands will have to do without Donny van de Beek throughout the tournament due to the injury of the Manchester United footballer. The midfielder, who grew up in the ranks of Ajax Amsterdam, will not return under the orders of coach Frank de Boer, who has decided not to hire any other player to replace him.
The news of van de Beek remaining out of the “Tulips” list was given this morning by the Dutch Federation. In recent days there have been doubts about the physical condition of the 24-year-old, who lost the friendly against Georgia on June 6, while he had been on the bench all the time in the 2-2 draw with Scotland on June 2.
Van de Beek comes from a more than complicated season in his career. The footballer born in 1997 last summer chose to join Manchester United, but not everything went as he had predicted. Out of 36 appearances in total, in only 15 cases was the starter activated and only 4 of these belong to the challenges in the Premier League.
Van de Beek counts 19 matches and three goals with the representative of the Netherlands. Recall that due to injury the Netherlands lost the most important defensive player, Virgil van Dijk, who could not recover in the lineup after the injury suffered last fall in the derby challenge between Everton and Liverpool.
