The Dutch national team also won the second qualifying match within the group stage of ‘Euro 2020’.
In the challenge held at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam, the Tulips won 2-0 against Austria securing participation in the knockout stage of the European Championship.
The 11th minute of the game was enough and the Dutch took the lead. It was a penalty awarded in their favor, which Memphis Depay converted into a goal.
With this minimal difference (1-0), the teams went to the break after the first 45 minutes, although other cases were not missing.
The second half brought another goal for the Dutch. Denzel Dumfries doubled the lead after an assist by Donyell Malen (67′).
The Austrians failed to prove to be a worthy opponent for the Tulips, so they remained in the quota of three points thanks to the victory over North Macedonia, while the last challenge in Group C is against Ukraine and they have a direct confrontation for qualification.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands counts six points from two victories and has already secured participation in the 1/8 finals of ‘Euro 2020’.
