Denmark has advanced to the knockout stages following its 4-1 win over Russia in Group B of the third round of Euro 2020.
The Danes took the lead through Mikkel Damsgaard in the 38th minute, after an assist by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
With this single goal, the first half ended, while in the second, four more were scored.
It was the 59th minute when Yussuf Poulsen scored for 2-0, giving his team great comfort.
Russia then narrowed the score to 2-1 with a penalty executed by Artem Dzyuba (70′), with Kasper Schmiechel failing to stop the shot.
But Denmark went on with great confidence and scored the third goal through Andreas Christensen who fired a powerful shot from distance in the 79th minute.
Just a minute later (80′), Joakim Maehle made sure that Denmark’s victory was deep, 4-1.
Thus, Belgium closed Group B as the leader with nine points, Denmark with three, as much as Finland and Russia have, but thanks to the best goal difference they went further.
