The German national team will not be allowed to train on the field at Wembley Stadium the night before the meeting with England in the 1/8 finals of the 2020 European Championship, due to concerns that the surface of the field could be damaged as a result of rain in London.
German media have called the decision a scandal, saying it gives unfair advantage to England, which played three group stage matches at home.
UEFA, meanwhile, has said that while it regrets, the decision is inevitable and applies to all teams playing at Wembley in the 1/8 finals.
Neither the Austrian nor Italian players were allowed to hold a training session at Wembley Stadium before their match in the 1/8 finals on Saturday.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the next 48 hours in London, before Tuesday’s meeting at 18:00.
Germany will be forced to hold an additional training session at its base in Herzogenaurach, near Nuremberg this morning, before heading to London in the afternoon.
