Dries Mertens has said that the challenge Belgium vs Italy will be a special match for him.
He has been in Italy for many years at Naples and considers that place as his second home.
Italy and Belgium will face in the quarterfinals of Euro 2020 on Friday from 21:00.
“It is a special match for me, I have been there for many years, it does not help me, but it is special,” the Napoli striker initially said at a press conference.
“Do I feel Italian?” Maybe I make gestures like some Italian. I like to joke, Naples is a wonderful city and it makes me happy.”
“Italy plays beautiful football, a team that has impressed everyone in this tournament. They have a good team and have played the best football in the group stage. Nobody expected Italy to be so strong.”
“The danger will come from all over Italy. They know what they are doing, they do not concede goals and they score a lot. Everyone has seen their games, the way they play. They really play as a team.”
Is it the last train for this golden generation of Belgium to win the trophy after approaching the 2018 World Cup?
“I do not think so. We have to be realistic, we have chances and it is not easy at all, but I do not think it is our last chance.”
