Mikel Arteta has refused to reveal whether expelled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be called up to the squad for Arsenal’s next match.
Arteta sacked Aubameyang’s squad for Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over West Ham at the Emirates and rose to fourth in the Premier League.
This was the second game in a row that Aubameyang was not part of the team, in a week during which he was also stripped of his captain’s belt due to lack of discipline.
Following the win over the Hammers, Arteta was asked by BT Sport if Aubameyang would return to the squad for Arsenal’s next match against Leeds United at the weekend.
The coach replied: “He was not in this match and that’s all. We will talk about this in the near future.”
Arteta praised the team for the game it played against the London rival: “The players were completely focused. They wanted to show how strong we are as a team.”
“I expect every player to adhere to our values. We will talk (about Aubameyang) another day. Today I want to talk about the match,” he added.
