Aubameyang sends farewell message to Arsenal fans

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has thanked Arsenal fans for their support, in a farewell post on social media, after leaving Arsenal by mutual agreement, to join Barcelona as a free agent.

Aubameyang joined Barcelona as a free agent on Monday night after severing his contract with Arsenal ahead of time.

He even trained with Xavi’s squad on Tuesday, although Barcelona have yet to officially register him as their own player.

The Gabonese striker scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for Arsenal, but he did not play for the Gunners since December when he lost the captain’s stripe and was sacked by coach Mikel Arteta for violating disciplinary rules.

“Arsenal fans, thank you for making London home to me and my family in the last four years,” Aubameyang said in a post on social media.

“We went through difficult and good times together and your support was everything to me. The opportunity to win trophies and the honor of being the captain of this club is something that I will keep in my heart forever,” he underlined.

He added: “I have always been 100% focused and committed to doing everything I can for this club, so it hurts that I am leaving without a good farewell, but this is football.”
