Ronald Koeman will not be on the Barcelona bench this Saturday against Atletico Madrid. Not because the Dutch coach has ended his adventure with the Blaugrana, but because the club has finally decided not to appeal the Competition Committee’s decision on the direct red card he received on Thursday, in the match against Cádiz.
The argument presented by the club is that the sanction imposed by the federal body was “minimum”, so the possible appeal would not have any positive result.
Koeman missed one of the two matches that was suspended in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Levante, so he will not be on the bench in “Wanda Metropolitano”. The Catalans in the challenge with “Los Colchoneros” will be led by the Dutch assistant, Alfred Schreuder.
The Barcelona club announced that they will file an appeal for the yellow card that Sergio Busquest received against Cadiz in an attempt to remove the second ball that was on the field.
