Capello: Better Belgium than Portugal for Italy

Italy’s opponent in the Euro 2020 quarterfinals will be Romelu Lukaku’s Belgium. The Belgian representative, led by Martinez, beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal 1-0 in the 1/8 round thanks to a goal by Thorgan Hazard.

Analyzing the future blues opponents, Fabio Capello, the well-known Italian coach and expert, stated:

“Belgium does not seem to me a team that plays openly, the Belgians play dependent on Lukaku. I feel sorry for De Bruyne, but let’s hope he won’t be able to rehabilitate in time because he’s the player who makes the difference. They are a team that when placed in the defensive zone, it is very difficult to defeat. Belgium is a strong team, however I think that against Portugal Italy would have had a harder time. We have the potential to advance. ”

Don Fabio then congratulates coach Roberto Mancini for the work he has done so far, underlining:

“He paid attention to the new players. Sometimes my former colleagues do not take risks or fail to see the potential of the new player. “Locatelli played over 40 games for Milan, but they did not understand what potential he had.”

Asked who is the symbol footballer of the Italian national team, Capello answered without hesitation:

“Jorginho, he is Mancini’s player. He was a footballer who did not completely convince me, but in the matches I watched live I realized that he is a midfielder who knows how to stay on the field and knows how to manage the team. The very fact that Italy has not conceded many goals is due to its ability to intervene at the right time.”
