Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is said to be at the top of Manchester City’s wish list as they seek success in the Champions League next season.
The Dutchman has not had good performances this season and Barcelona could be open for sale if the right offer arrives, given their precarious financial position.
According to The Times, Barcelona would be open to making a bid of around € 70 million for De Jong, who was signed by Barcelona in 2019 from Ajax for a fee of €86 million.
De Jong has also been linked with a move to European giants Manchester United and Bayern Munich, but Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has recently made it clear he has the 24-year-old in his plans.
“He is very important. He must define an era in this club. He is at a very good level and I am very happy with him. He must continue. “He has to score, assist and he has to be an important player.”
