Didier Deschamps: I am to blame

France coach Didier Deschamps has taken responsibility for the loss against Switzerland tonight.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, France coach Didier Deschamps had a hard time explaining the elimination of his team from Switzerland in the 1/8 finals.

“It’s always hard to explain. We failed in the first half, we did what we had to do to get back to the second half. Usually, our strength has been solid, we proved weak after allowing the return of Switzerland. It’s hard, hurtful, but we did everything to make it end differently. This is football. Tonight, this race for us ends. There is no magic formula, you have to regain balance. I am responsible.”

He has talked about his future and whether he will continue to be the coach after this elimination.

“This is not a question. There is unity and solidarity in this team. I am responsible, when things go wrong, I am with the players and they are for months. We will need time to manage this situation.

Deschamps also spoke about Mbappe losing the penalty.

“No one should be upset with him anymore. When you take on this responsibility, it can happen. “Of course, he is most affected by this,” Deschamps said after the match.
