Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has said he loves Marco Verratti after the Italian midfielder shone by helping Paris Saint-Germain beat his side in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Verratti and PSG won 2: 0 against City at the Parc des Prices thanks to goals from Idrissa Gueye and Lionel Messi.
Although it was Messi who scored the first goal for his new club, it was his teammate Verratti who really stole Guardiola’s heart with his appearance in the Parisian midfield.
Guardiola’s love for Verratti
“I am in love with him. He is extraordinary,” Guardiola told for Verratti after the match.
“Even under pressure, he manages to make those passes that allow the midfielder to be free,” he explained.
“He is not a player who makes long passes, but you can always count on him to build the game,” he added.
