Roma coach Jose Mourinho did not like Nicolo Zaniolo’s reaction to Roma’s victory in Triestina in a friendly match on Wednesday.
Zaniolo spoke several times with Triestina defender Walter Lopez before the latter made a harsh intervention against him at the end of the first half.
The 35-year-old tried to hit Zaniolo with a cannon, prompting a scuffle. They clashed for a few seconds before Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini parted ways.
According to Italian media, Mourinho did not like what he saw and made sure that Zaniolo knew this.
The former Inter star missed the entire 2021/22 season due to a serious knee injury he suffered in a match between Italy and the Netherlands in the League of Nations in September 2020.
He has played three warm-up games against Roma this summer, including yesterday’s friendly with Trieste, which the Serie A giants won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nicola Zalewski.
