Roy Keane has called Joao Felix a cheater after the young striker missed an opportunity at the end of the match that his Portugal lost to Belgium and was eliminated from the European Championship as a result.
Thorgan Hazard’s goal at the end of the first half was enough for Belgium to advance to the quarterfinals, although Portugal created some good scoring chances at the end of the meeting in Seville.
One of those cases was abused by Felix, who hit high on the gate after Cristiano Ronaldo passed the ball to him in the area.
After the match, Manchester United legend Keane harshly criticized the 21-year-old Atletico Madrid striker.
Speaking about the lost cases from Portugal, Keane told ITV: “There is no excuse not to hit the gate frame. Just test the goalkeeper.”
“When Felix came into the game, he was a cheater. He enters the game and the country needs him, what he needs is to hit the target. How much does it cost, 100 million?” He added.
Keane stressed: “If I were in Ronaldo’s place, I would certainly follow him through the locker room.”
Felix joined Atletico from Benfica for 113 million, becoming the fourth most expensive player in football history and the most expensive teenager.
