Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Harvery Elliott experienced great pain after suffering a serious injury in his side’s 3-0 win over Leeds United on Sunday.
Elliott, 18, was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital after a tough intervention that Leeds defender Pascal Struijk made against him.
Struijk was sent off as a result of the red card.
Klopp said after the match that Elliott has removed the ankle from the place.
Liverpool later announced that he has been released from hospital but will have to undergo surgery in the coming days.
“I saw the situation. I saw that his foot was not in the right decision. That is why we are all shocked “, said Klopp after the match.
“There was great pain, shock for him and for us,” Klopp added.
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham at the age of 16 in 2019, applauded as he was being carried off the pitch taking oxygen.
