Lazio confirms the departure of Inzaghi

Lazio have confirmed in a press release that Simone Inzaghi has “changed his mind” and he has gone to Inter, but they have still appointed Simone as coach.

Inzaghi’s contract with the Eagles expired on June 30 and last night it seemed that he would continue with this team until June 2024. However, today Inter has returned with a proposal for a double salary and they have managed to win the race. for him, appointing him coach of the Serie A champions.

It has been reported that President Claudio Lotito has tried hard but failed to persuade him not to leave, and he told Il Messaggero this evening that they had planned to formalize the new contract tonight.

Lazio finally admitted that they had lost Inzaghi and issued a statement in which they did not even mention his name. “We respect a coach when he changes his mind, but before that, even less so for a player who has been associated for many years with the Lazio family and the success of the white and blues.”

Inter are expected to formalize Inzaghi as their new coach with a two-year contract worth 4 million euros per season plus one million bonuses in case of winning trophies. He is expected to do this tomorrow. Although they did not mention Inzaghi’s name, Lazio’s strong statement says it as he alone has been so committed to an incredibly sensational career at Lazio.

He played for the Eagles from 1999 until his retirement in 2010, but had several seasons on loan at Sampdoria and Atalanta, and from 2010 began his career as a youth coach at the Academy. Inzaghi took over the leadership of the white and blues at the end of the 2015/16 season from Stefano Pioli, but he left to return again in July when Marcelo Bielsa changed his mind and did not take over the management of this team.

Since then he has won the Italian Cup with Lazio, two editions of the Italian Super Cup and has qualified this team in the Champions League for the first time in 13 years.
