Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has explained why he gave full points to Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho for the FIFA Best Player award.
Lewandowski won the award on Monday night for the second time in a row, leaving behind Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah.
Jorginho finished only in sixth place, despite the Polish striker thinking he had a crazy year.
“I always look at attacking players, but what Jorginho won last year means a lot,” said Lewandowski.
“We have to be neutral. He also scored important goals, despite playing as number 6. He had a crazy year with Chelsea and Italy,” he added.
Jorginho, born in Brazil but raised in Italy, had a great year in 2021, winning the Champions League and European Super Cup with Chelsea, as well as the 2020 European Championship with Italy.
