Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has called Mohamed Salah greedy and described him as the most selfish player he has ever seen.
Salah is one of the most prolific strikers in European football since joining Liverpool in 2017, scoring 139 goals in 214 appearances for the club from Merseyside.
Fourteen of them have scored just this season, which has pushed coach Jurgen Klopp to elevate the Egyptian as the best player in the world.
But Souness has given another assessment of Salah in a column written for The Times.
“I agree with Jurgen Klopp that Salah is the best player in the world this season,” Souness wrote.
“He is probably the most greedy player I have ever seen. All the great players have an element of greed but Salah is extremely selfish.”
“Personal goals are important to him and he shoots at the gate from every possible angle, which angers his teammates, especially Sadio Mane. The other players agree because he is very good.”
Salah scored a hat-trick to help Liverpool embarrass Manchester United 5-0 on Sunday at Old Trafford.
He also gave an assist to the Reds’ first goal, scored by Naby Keita.
