He is always used to hearing praise for what he does on the pitch, but it happens that Toni Kroos also faces criticism.
The German midfielder has ended up being targeted by Lothar Matthaus, who in an interview for Kicker has criticized the style of play of the Real Madrid footballer.
The former German footballer, Bayern Munich and Inter, has stated that he does not like Kroos’ style of play at all, adding that every time the German touches the ball, the action significantly loses speed.
“I have nothing personal with Kroos, but I do not like his style of play. It is no longer at the height of the best. We have seen it in Europe and it is not only about the speed of the player, but also that of using the ball. He does well enough with one or two touches, but every time he takes the ball, the action slows down significantly and the game loses pace,” said Matthaus.
Midfielder Toni Kroos joined the German national team in 2010 and has since played a full 106 games, while immediately after the end of the European Championship, he announced his withdrawal from the national team, on the grounds that he wants to dedicate more time to his family.
The 31-year-old footballer managed to be declared world champion with Germany in the summer of 2014 and also counts numerous titles with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
