Kylian Mbappe had thought they would allow him to leave
Kylian Mbappe is not the happiest man in the world right now. The Frenchman kept calm throughout the summer and the transition period, calmly waiting for what would happen.
“I am calm,” he said when he joined the national team on Monday, and that was because he believed that Paris Saint-Germain would reach an agreement for his transfer to Real Madrid this summer.
The World Cup winner hoped a solution would be found. He believed PSG would allow his departure. But Mbappe remained waiting, hoping that something would happen that did not actually happen.
At eight o’clock on Tuesday evening, Mbappe already knew that his transfer to Madrid was impossible. He knew that PSG had not accepted any of Real Madrid’s offers and that the deadline for him had expired. His dream of playing with Los Blancos was over.
From promises to actions
Mbappe had already come to realize that all the promises made to him by Spain were true. Real Madrid had made several offers that they believed were enough for PSG to allow his departure. They kept their word, but the result was not what they and Mbappe had thought.
Mbappe now has a season ahead of him with Paris Saint-Germain. He will continue to do his best – playing football and scoring goals. He will not act against PSG, although he is upset by the blockades of this club.
On 1 January 2022, Mbappe will be able to sign a contract for Real Madrid. For the next four months he will play free and without pressure.
Real Madrid are doing everything they could to transfer him, but now they will return to him in January. With Mbappe’s contract expiring in the summer of 2022, he will be able to move to Madrid without money next season.
