Messi debuts from the bench while Mbappe shines in PSG’s victory against Reims

Lionel Messi made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2-0 victory against Stade de Reims, in which Kylian Mbappe, the most wanted by Real Madrid, excelled.

Mbappe – who was not known if he would play after the constant rumors that he would join Real Madrid – scored both goals in the triumph for Paris in Reims.

This was the fourth win in four games in the new season for PSG, which makes it the leader of Ligue 1. Reims, meanwhile, is still looking for its first win this season, after three draws and a loss.

The French striker played headline and looked extremely happy on the pitch, despite news that he had insisted on leaving for Madrid.

He broke the ice after just a quarter of a game, when he put Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the lead with a beautiful header after a cross by Angel Di Maria.

At the beginning of the second half, Valon Berisha entered the game from the bench for Reims.

PSG dominated the home side but gave them enough space to claim the equalizer, which they found when Marshall Munets scored from close range in the 51st minute, but his goal was disallowed by VAR for offside game.

Mbappe doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, when he scored in the empty net after a super pass from Achraf Hakimi.

Three minutes later, Messi officially made his debut for Paris, taking the place of his close friend, Neymar.

Messi’s introduction on the field was welcomed with great applause by local fans, who, although opponents, cheered the name of the Argentine.

Messi joined PSG as a free agent in early August and signed a two-year deal, with the possibility of another year.

Messi left Barcelona, ??the only club he had played for throughout his career, as the Catalans were unable to offer him a new contract due to La Liga financial rules.
