Milan coach admits: Porto was better than us

Milan coach Stefano Pioli has admitted that his team played poorly and that Porto were much better than them and deserved a 1-0 victory in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Luis Diaz scored the only and triumphant goal for Porto at the Estadio do Dragao, causing the Red and Blacks to lose for the third time in a row.

Milan are pointless after the first three games and are now less likely to advance to the group stage for the first time in the Champions League in seven years.

“Our performance was not good today. Our opponent played better, was sharper, more accurate and had more intensity”, said Pioli after the match.

He added: “We did not start the game well, we did not hold the ball and did not create enough scoring opportunities. “Porto played better than us.”

In the next Group B match, Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 3: 2 in a dramatic match.

Liverpool is now the leader with 9 points, Atletico and Porto have four points each, while Milan is last without points.
