Milan coach: We played with quality, courage and maturity

Milan coach Stefano Pioli has elevated his team to a 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid, who were first for the Red and Blacks in the Champions League this season.

Milan finally scored its first victory after five games in the Champions League, as many times it was close in past meetings.

Substitute Junior Messias set the game at Wanda Metropolitan on Tuesday, scoring the winning goal with a header after a cross by Franck Kessie.

This victory keeps Milan in the race to move among the top 16.

The Reds must beat Liverpool in the final game and hope that Atletico and Porto share a draw to move on.

“It’s fair to celebrate with my players because they made great appearances,” Pioli said after the game.

“They played with quality and courage and believed in themselves constantly. This is the right way and tonight we saw an important maturity of the team “, he added.
