José Mourinho believes Feyenoord has an advantage over Roma ahead of the Conference League final.
Giallorossi are preparing for the last match of the season in the league against Torino on Friday and the final of the League Conference in Tirana next week.
Mourinho has already won the Europa League and the Champions League in his career, so what does this European final mean?
“It’s always the same. “The history and importance of the competition are different, but this is the most important final because we still have to play it,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Il Corriere dello Sport.
“It will be our 15th match in Europe this season. We started in August and have traveled a lot. We paid a high price in Serie A, losing points to teams that had a week to prepare for the game. When I look at the board, I think about those games and the referees’ mistakes. “The Conference League has been a difficult competition, now we have to make history by winning the cup,” said Mourinho.
Roma are currently sixth in the table, just one point ahead of Atalanta, which would be the first team outside European countries. Giallorossi could get a place in the Europa League if they win the Conference League.
“At the beginning of the season, we thought Trabzonspor was among the candidates to win the competition, but at the same time, we had to wait for the teams relegated from the Europa League to see the level rise. “We have always played with ambition, going to the end”, said the Portuguese.
The Dutch season is already over and Roma’s opponent, Feyenoord, is preparing in Portugal for the final. Do they have an advantage over Giallorossi?
“Of course, a big one too. “We have to play an important match against Torino and it is difficult to rest the players,” said Mourinho.
“They have finished the season and can work quietly. I always say that the team must forget these details in the final. These are games to win. “I said this today, but I will tell you that they have no advantage on Wednesday [next week],” he concluded.
Mourinho signed a three-year deal with Giallorossi in the summer and revealed last week that he has no plans to leave the club at the end of the season, so he will continue at the Stadio Olimpico for the 2022-23 season.
