Fiorentina has announced that it has agreed with coach Gennaro Gattuso to break the agreement reached just two weeks ago.
Fiorentina and Gennaro Gattuso parted ways just two weeks after they reunited, meaning the former AC Milan and Napoli coach will not lead Fiorentina from the new season as expected.
Rumors that Gattuso had not found a common language with the club’s management were confirmed on Thursday by the Florence club itself, which confirmed the departure of the former Italian midfielder.
Gattuso and the executives had major disagreements over the transfer of the players, according to Italian media, and this led to the split between them.
In a statement on its website, Fiorentina wrote: “ACF Fiorentina and Rino Gattuso have decided not to implement the agreement, so not to start the new season together.”
“The club will immediately start working to find a new coach who will lead Fiorentina towards the results that the team and the city of Florence deserve,” the announcement reads.
