Pele stands by Mbappe: Heads up, tomorrow is the first day of the new journey

Brazilian legend Pele has expressed his support to Kylian Mbappe, after the Paris Saint-Germain striker missed the crucial penalty which cost France with a shocking early departure from Euro 2020, after losing to Switzerland.

After a fierce 3: 3 battle during the 120 minutes of the game, Yann Sommer defended Mbappes’ penalty and secured Switzerland a 5: 4 victory on penalties.

And, with that victory, Switzerland knocked down the 2018 World Champion and the main favorite of Euro 2020.

Mbappe was the only one to miss the penalty. But the penalty was not the only mistake of the Paris Saint-Germain star on Monday night.

He missed some golden opportunities during the match and on occasions was very personal on a night that was clearly not his.

But Pele, the three-time World Cup winner, has defended the 22-year-old, urging him to keep his head up.

In a Twitter reaction: “Keep your head up, Kylian! Tomorrow is the first day of a new journey.”

Mbappe and France were in search of glory at Euro 2020, following the success they reaped at the 2018 World Cup, where Mbappe shone and became world champion at the age of 19.

He will have enough time to seek glory in Europe after four years.
