Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic was disappointed with his team’s performance in the 3-0 loss to Italy.
Italy easily beat Switzerland in the second round of Euro 2020 on Wednesday and Petkovic admitted that his players are not doing enough to win the match.
“We played against a very strong Italy. They created problems for us, we were not 100 percent.” Petkovic initially said at a press conference.
“We conceded goals, we were not safe and that is not normal for us.”
“I already said yesterday that Italy do not arrive from the match against Turkey, they come from a path of 29 consecutive unbeaten matches, with players who have an excellent quality.
“If they continue like this, they have a chance to finish in the top four. “There are some other teams competing, then it depends on the individual matches.”
Petkovic noted that the Swiss made ‘obvious’ mistakes against a ruthless Italy.
“It simply came to my notice then. It would be enough to ask the commentator. “Everyone made mistakes, it was not a 100 percent match. “If we had, it would have been different.”
“Italy has run six kilometers more than us, it is a physical and mental fact. “They played with a high pace, they made the difference there”, concluded the Swiss coach.
