Salernitana has officially fired Stefano Colantuono and the current favorite to take over is former Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo.
The 59-year-old Italian took over at Salernitana in mid-October following the sacking of former coach Fabrizio Castori, but he did little to change the fate of the team from Campania in the Italian top league.
He was in charge for 15 Serie A games with Salernitana, taking just two wins and three draws, losing 10 games.
The current favorite to take over as coach at Salernitana is Andrea Pirlo. The 42-year-old Italian has been out of work since leaving Juventus last year and this role could represent a good opportunity for him to resume his career as a coach.
Pirlo has made a long-term contract available, even if the team drops out of Serie A. Talks are currently ongoing and Salernitana will decide in the coming days.
Alternatives to Pirlo include Castor, who is still under contract, and Davide Nicola, who was recently in charge of Torino.
