PSG director: Messi unquestionable

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has described Lionel Messi as unquestionable, insisting the 34-year-old has started life in France in an extraordinary way.

Messi left Barcelona in June after the club was unable to offer him a new deal due to the financial crisis.

The Argentine, who during his time at Camp Nou became one of the best players in football history, joined PSG as a free agent in the summer, but has not been able to show his best form in Princes Park yet.

Messi has been said to be struggling to adjust to the intensity of the Ligue 1 game during the first half of the 2021/22 season, but Leonardo has defended the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner seven times.

“Lionel Messi is unquestionable for me,” said the PSG chief for Europe 1.

“If you start discussing Messi, you do it because you do not understand anything about football. We can not doubt,” he said.

“If you look at Messi’s statistics, his first six months are extraordinary. He and Mbappe are involved in almost every goal of the team. He is decisive and decisive. We did not get Messi to play every game. We are more competitive with him, of course. He can decide every match,” he added.

Messi has made 15 appearances for PSG in all competitions to date, scoring six goals and donating five assists.

The Argentine has faced physical problems and injuries at the beginning of the season.
