Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has said he has a long-standing desire to play alongside Lionel Messi in a team, despite hostile rivalry in the past.
Lionel Messi is a free agent for now, after his contract with Barcelona expired on June 30, and there has been talk of a possible transfer to PSG.
However, Messi seems to continue to be Ramos’ rival, as the Argentine is believed to have reached a new agreement with Barcelona to continue his stay at the Camp Nou.
Speaking as a PSG player for Messi, Ramos said: “I like to play with the best players and Messi is one of the best in the world. I have always said that Messi will always have a place in my team.”
Ramos joined PSG this summer as a free agent, leaving Real Madrid after a full 16 years. During that time, the Spanish center-back was a great rival of Messi.
But there is a great deal of respect between them, despite the animosity on the field over the years and Ramos hopes that one day he will play alongside the six-time Golden Ball winner.
