Statistics showing the big change in Barcelona

Ronald Koeman said Barcelona should find their style of play after the disappointing draw against Granada last night, explaining that they do not have players who play tiki-taka, as they have done in recent years.

The Dutchman said that his team played well and signaled a change in style at the club.

According to statistics from Opta, Barcelona attempted 54 crosses last night and 45 of them were from the open game. Only Sergino Dest alone made 16 of them.

Barcelona’s plan was so clear that even Gerard Pique came off the bench to play as a center-forward and Ronald Araujo joined him. Along with them, Luuk de Jong was there as well.

“Barcelona today is not the same as eight years ago,” Koeman recalled after the match.

The last time Barcelona made so many crosses was November 2016 against Malaga, making a total of 55 crosses.
