Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero claims that Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus for Manchester United because he realized he was no longer the player he wanted to be.
The Portuguese representative completed his transfer to Manchester United on the last day of the transfer window for 15 million euros plus another 8 million euros in the form of various bonuses.
This means that Juve made a loss in the purchase price of 117 million euros from Real Madrid, but still benefited financially by removing from the books his salary of 30 million euros per season.
“Sometimes it is better to give up a few euros than to keep someone who does not want to stay with you and therefore is not giving his best,” Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia.
“It’s better for everyone interested that Ronaldo left and it’s better for him that he realized it was no longer Ronaldo he wanted to be.”
CR7 was the top scorer in Serie A last season with 29 goals in 33 games, six of which were from the penalty spot.
