“The project before the money”, Haaland representatives reject Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has turned down a new approach from English club Manchester United.

Haaland, who has a €75 million release clause, is wanted by a number of top European clubs this summer after scoring 80 goals in 83 appearances for the Bundesliga giants since joining Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

One of the interested clubs was also United, which was ready to compete with any European team for the transfer of the Norwegian.

However, according to ESPN, Haaland’s representatives have informed United that he would not be transferred there because he thinks they ‘can not match his ambitions’.

United, who are approaching a deal to hire Ajax manager Erik ten Hag this summer, are desperately looking for a new striker.

The Red Devils are said to have informed the Haaland camp that they would be willing to match any financial packages placed on the table by City or any other interested team.

But the Norwegian representatives told United that the quality of the ‘sports project’ will come first and Haaland’s decision will not be based on financial benefits.
