There is still no agreement between Messi and Barcelona

Barcelona and Lionel Messi are in talks, but have not yet reached an agreement to extend the contract, according to Goal.com.

Messi’s contract with the Catalan club expires at the end of June, which means he will be a free agent after about a week.

Although Barcelona remains optimistic that Messi will extend his contract, reaching an agreement between the parties does not seem inevitable.

Although Barca’s formal proposal continues to be discussed, Goal says that the leaders of the Catalan giant have not yet made an official offer to the Argentine.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Jorge Messi, the player’s father and manager, continue talks.

Messi, meanwhile, remains focused on the America’s Cup, where he is leading Argentina towards glory.

The 33-year-old’s priority is not economic. He is seeking assurances from Barcelona that he will have a more competitive team on the field, as he is now entering the west of his career.
