Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he is confident of signing a new contract with Chelsea following their Champions League victory over Manchester City.
After the triumph in the Champions League last night, Tuchel met for the first time in person with the owner of the club, Roman Abramovich, from where it is reported that the contract extension has been offered to the German coach.
“I’m not even 100 percent sure, but maybe I already have a new contract with that victory,” Tuchel said. “My manager said something about it. I spoke with the owner [Roman Abramovich] now on the field, which was the best moment for a first date!”
Tuchel, who was named Chelsea manager with just an 18-month contract in January, continued:
“I can assure you that I will stay hungry, that I want the next title and I feel absolutely happy as part of a really ambitious club and a strong part of a really strong group that fits my beliefs and fits my passion for football perfectly. My desire is to go for more victories and my desire is to grow as a coach. My wish is to push the group from the first day of next season to the borders.” said Tuchel.
Chelsea won their second Champions League title last night, beating Porto Manchester City in the final with a minimum score of 0: 1, thanks to Havertz’s goal in the 42nd minute.
With the arrival of Tuchel, Chelsea revived becoming a very competitive team and showing fantastic performances.
