Raphael Varane has become the fourth most expensive sale in the history of Real Madrid, after Manchester United paid 50 million euros for him.
Manchester United announced yesterday that they have reached an agreement worth 50 million euros with Real Madrid for the French defender Varane, who will move to Old Trafford.
This amount is impressive considering the difficult financial time that football clubs are going through due to the pandemic.
Varane will leave a big gap in Real’s defense after a decade spent in the Spanish capital, especially after Sergio Ramos also left this summer.
Thus he becomes the fourth most expensive sale in the history of the Madrid club.
More expensive than him were sold only Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus in 2018 (105 million euros), Alvaro Morata to Chelsea in 2017 (80 million euros) and Angel di Maria to Manchester United in 2014 (75 million euros).
Varane had joined Real at the age of 18 for 10 million euros and 10 years later is leaving for an amount five times higher.
