What is happening to the Dutch players of Barcelona?

Barcelona has always been associated with Dutch players. And those of this season, under the direction of a Dutch coach, had to be important and decisive.

But Frenkie de Jong’s third season is the most complicated so far. The start was good for Depay, but now the former Lyon star is missing goals. On the other hand, Luuk de Jong did not promise much even when he was transferred at the end of the transfer window.

These are difficult times for the compatriots of important Barcelona figures like Johan Cruyff, who changed the history of the club, or Ronald Koeman himself, the architect of the first European Cup of Barcelona.

Frenkie de Jong is no longer helping the midfield

De Jong had good performances in his first year as a Barcelona player and in his second year was one of the few to have constant form. Even the constant position changes by Koeman did not help. During “El Clasico”, he made five ball losses, as he made only 48 assists, a small figure for him.

Depay is failing to take advantage

Depay does not have the freshness of the first matches and this has started to disappoint the Barcelona fans. 4 goals in 12 games is a small number for him, which drops from one goal in three games. He also has two assists.

Luuk de Jong: 10 shots and one goal

His arrival was not at all welcomed by Barcelona fans. In Seville he was the third center-forward behind An-Nasir and Rafa Mir. So far he has scored one goal out of 10 shots he has made in total.
