Xavi Hernandez has turned down two serious offers in recent weeks, fueling rumors that he will eventually be named Barcelona coach from the new season.
Xavi arrived in Barcelona on Monday with 22 suitcases and with family, after a very successful season with the Qatari club, Al Sadd.
Finally, the legendary former Barcelona midfielder extended his contract with Al Sadd until June 30, 2023, but in that agreement there is a clause which relieves him of duty if Barca makes him an offer for the post of coach.
Before extending his contract with the Qatari club, Xavi had two big offers, from Borussia Dortmund and the Brazilian national team.
Dortmund had offered him a three-year contract, while Brazil had offered him the opportunity to be Tite’s assistant coach during the 2022 World Cup, before being appointed coach after the World Cup.
Xavi turned down both offers because, according to Spanish media, he has only two clubs in mind: Al Sadd and Barcelona.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced radical changes at the Camp Nou at the end of this season and according to the media there, Xavi is his favorite for the post of coach.
