Paris Saint-Germain has completed the transfer of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
He will join PSG for free, as his contract with Liverpool will expire at the end of the month.
The Parisian giant beat Barcelona in the race for the Dutchman, although for months it was rumored that he had reached an agreement with the Catalan club.
The 30-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract with PSG, which will keep him at the Parc des Princes until the summer of 2024.
He was very close to joining Barcelona, ??but PSG intervened by offering him a salary almost three times higher than the Catalan giant offered and persuaded him to change his mind.
In Paris, Wijnaldum will receive up to 10 million euros a year.
“Transferring to PSG is a new challenge for me,” Wijnaldum told the club’s official website.
“I am joining one of the best teams in Europe.”
“PSG has proven how good they have been in recent years and I am convinced that together with our fans we can go even further.”
Wijnaldum spent five years at Liverpool and decided not to extend his contract with the Premier League club, leaving Anfield as European and English champions.
