Mauricio Pochettino has finally decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, extinguishing Tottenham’s hopes for his return to the helm of the team.
There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks that Pochettino would leave PSG after less than a year in the French capital.
Tottenham and Real Madrid showed great interest in him, with the latter withdrawing after returning Carlo Ancelotti from Everton to the bench.
Tottenham hoped until the last minute to bring the Argentine coach back to the club, despite having sacked him last year.
But according to Fabrizio Romano, Pochettino will not leave PSG, despite talks with Tottenham.
“Pochettino is not leaving. PSG also maintains the same position, despite the talks with Tottenham”, Romano wrote on Twitter.
He also revealed that Pochettino has persuaded Gini Wijnaldum to reject Barcelona and accept PSG’s offer.
“Pochettino is directly involved in Wijnaldum’s sudden turn to join PSG. He called him several times. They had met in 2016 after Pochettino wanted him at Tottenham. Now, together at PSG,” he added.
