PSG star: We dreamed that Messi would come to us, but the agreement failed

Leonardo Paredes has said that he and his teammates dreamed that Lionel Messi would join them in Paris Saint-Germain and lamented the fact that the agreement for the transfer of his Argentine compatriot to Paris had failed.

Messi shocked the football world when he submitted a request to leave the club last summer and, although he finally stayed at the Camp Nou for the last year in his contract, the 2020/21 season has been filled with rumors about who his next club would be for the new season.

PSG has emerged as the most likely club where the 34-year-old would continue his career, who is a free agent for now.

However, it is reported that Messi has reached a new agreement with Barcelona and will sign again with the club where he spent his entire career.

The chances of the French giants getting Messi are impossible now, which disappoints Paredes, who would have liked his compatriot to join him at the Parc des Princes, after winning the 2021 America’s Cup together in the shirt of Argentina this month.

“Yes, there were many words at the club when it was learned that Leo could come to Paris. “It was a dream to imagine that he would be with us next season,” Paredes told ESPN.

“It simply did not happen. I hope he likes it where he plays.” he added.

Barcelona are expected to announce a new deal with Messi next week, after completing the remaining details due to difficulties with reducing the players’ salary bill in accordance with La Liga salary law.

Messi has agreed to have a 50% pay cut to continue to be a Barcelona player.
